Thursday 10th - Shakaland/St Lucia

Sawubona (hello in Zulu)
Woke up early, checked my shoes for scorpions and the like. All clear.  Charles Le C wasn't so fortunate as a frog popped out of his!  I'm so looking forward to tonight!

An early breakfast - omelettes, pancakes, cereals, sausages, bacon. We were then shown how Zulu women choose their suitors.  Harrison was the lucky boy and given a white necklace as a symbol of her love and purity.  Don't worry, Mags, she seems like a very nice umfazi (woman).

It's now 8.30 am and we are ready to make our way to St Lucia but no, the fan belt on our coach fails.  Christine and I had forgotten to bring any tights with us so we couldn't help.  Jacob's dad, Chris, came to the rescue and with his mechanical wizardry was able to get us back on the road. About an hour in to our journey the fan belt went kaput - we were okay as long as the driver didn't turn off the engine.  It was just like a scene from Speed.  I want to be Sandra Bullock!

Our Bundu Basher reps immediately sort us out with a replacement coach.

So far Dean has played a diplomat by getting the ferry to turn round us in Cape Town and now Chris B has worked his magic by getting us from A to B.  Christine and I are a little worried as to what job is in store for us.

The St Lucia Estuary was great - full of hippos and we also saw a few crocs.

Change of coach and then our drive to the Umfolozi Game Reserve.
