Back on line - Shakaland - Wednesday

 Feeling hot, hot, hot ...
Arrive at Durban airport - a quick bie to eat and then a 2hr coach trip to Shakaland.  A welcome drink, dropped off our bags and then straight on with the action.  We were treated to a tour of the village, how they made tchwala (a mixture of corn and maize) and then we tasted it once it had been sieved through a raffia sock!  Tasted like Carlsberg to me!
We were given a demonstration of stick fighting and then the boys had a go.  Ballard vs Lindley - there was only going to be one winner.
A few of the other boys had a go too and then it was spear throwing.  Go Ed, Lara, Henry - not too much between them and no injuries to the crowd.
Then it was time to listen to some traditional music, had a few sherbets then it was cabaret time.  We were treated to the delights of zulu dancing - I think I'm right in saying that all Lochihughs boys got up and gave it a go.  The dancers kick their legs up so high that the inner thigh touches the ear - not a lot of the boys managed that though.
Back to the restaurant, great selection of food and plates were piled high.  Birthday boy Johnnie was treated to a loud rendition of happy birthday and the most enormous chocolate cake was presented and shared by us all.  After dinner we relaxed outside in the bar area, stunning scenery and views, whilst the boys watched the footie.
What a day!
